It's quite hard to make a virus undetected but in my experience I've ever added a virus to a password protected archieve (.rar) and it's become undected. It seems that the archieve's encryption change some part of it so it become undetected.

Yes you guys are quite right with the idea that..viruses are very difficult to make undetected.

Actually there are two types of virus detection techniques....Signature based detection and Behavioural based detection. The latter one is more effective but it looks for behaviours rather than signatures like it blocks programs which automatically installs themselves in vulnerable parts of the registry like the boot sector parts and etc.......Signature based antiviruses are totally dependent on their virus hex signature database..their detection method is very simple.......just like seeeing and telling from the database......

Nowadays viruses have become more stealthy and stable. They mostly apply API hooking to hook themselves with the running processes like explorer.exe,rundll32.exe.....etc....

Now I don't want to give lecture on this.........

KEEP POSTING ABOUT YOUR THOUGHTS GUYS!

Best way to find out which ways would be a good way to start would be to look at scanners. Since most if not all antivirus programs run by a signature database, they dont really look for the behaviour side of things as 'code' mentioned.
There is however afew scanners that are designed and based around behaviour side of things instead of signature i noticed during a google search for a program one day last week.
