Who is the Best Footballer of All time?

So an easy topic to start with. Who is the Best footballer of all time. Is it Pele or Maradona or Beckenbauer or Cruijff or anyone else. What is your argument for your decision? Please discuss in detail.

A little bio of the Greats is provided here.

Pele: Winner of the Jule Rime Trophy, Most goal scorer is world soccer, voted as the best player of the Millenium and winner of many more honors.

Maradona: Captain of the World Cup winning Argentina Team in '86, voted as the scorer of the Goal of the Millenium and loved by millions around the world.

Beckenbauer: Captain of the World Cup winning West Germany Team in '74, Coach of World Cup winning West Germany Team in '90, Only person to win the World Cup as Player and Coach.

Cruijff: Itroducer of the phrase "Total Football" and voted as the Best European player.

I will vote for Pele and Maradona both....both of them are just great....But if it is between Pele and Maradona....I will go for Maradona..

He is the greatest of all time. I don't understand why other people say about PELE. He is fine footballer but he will not gretest.

It is hard to say which one of them is to be considered the best footballer of all time...

The player played football in different periods of time. In time, the has changed... new rules were added, a lot of things changed. You can't compare them.

You can't compare players of the same period. They were all great player of their time.

Still, if it is to vote, my vote goes to Pele. I like him a lot... I like him more than I like Maradona for example!

i voted for maradona are you kidding me, hes amazing i dont think anyone would have been better than him if he hadnt became a junky, he was a really football player no one i would say has his unique skills.

Oh .. of course i've heard about Pele. He's from Brazil, isn't he ? But not about the other two one. Let's say i wasn't very precise in what i said. To be honest i don't really like footbal to much. I'm watching a game from time to time but nothing special.

Any one who knows about football in depth must know Beckenbauer and Cruijff. Beckenbauer was the captain of Then invincible Germany and Bayern Munich. With him, Germany(Then West Germany) and Munich won or played in the final in almost all the competition they went. He is regarded as the inventor of the Position Libero. And for cruijff, He played in the team which gave the world "Total Football", a term then new but now used by every team. They played the most beatiful football in the 70s and probably the Best team not to win the World cup or any cup for that matter. Although I am passionate about my football and thats why I know a bit more. But these 4 guys are a must know if you claim to be True football fan.

As for my choice, I would pick Beckenbauer. He, as rightly named Kaiser, was amazing on the pitch. Although he was mainly a defender but He played from back to front and organized a Great German team that were deadly back then. He played with a Broken Arm in a world cup semi-final against Italy. Although Germany lost the game but can't imagine any player would be so passionate to play a match with a broken arm. He is the Best in my book.

Also I would like to mention a few names here who were Great in their own time and is not mentioned here. Alfredo Di Stefano, 8 league titles and 5 European titles in his 10 Year career at Real Madrid. Eusebio, nicknamed Black Panther or Black Pele, scored 727 goals in 715 matches. Pusk?s, amazing scoring record of 84 goals in 85 International matches.
