I don't think so. According to me , A player who always do well for his team in it's most difficult time is best. Just by scoring maximum centuries or runs, a player is not considered as the best batsman.. How he handles the pressure when his team get into real trouble makes him the best and SACHIN, most of the time failed when his team really wanted his best game.

Brian Lara and Ricky ponting are the most trusted player i have ever seen , they do well whenever their teams needs it.

Without any doubts Brian Lara.Test matches require long innings from a batsman and Lara has many records in the tests which makes him the nest.

Yes Lara has many records but consistency in the game is another thing. ..and i think Ricky Ponting is best when it comes to consistency,.

I agree with you that consistency is important too but if it comes to consistency then we cant take back the credits from Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.

Yes, Rahul Dravid is good ..always consistent But sachin was not as consistent as rahul and Lara.
Though Lara has more capacity to make his team win.

Tendulkar started his test career with a bang but now a days his form is not with him.Maybe because he is getting old and dont have such good health like before.

Yes, he started with a bang. How much old is Tendulkar ?? 34-35 ??
Well , When Inzamam-Ul haq was 38, he was still hitting centuries....Now compare the fitness level... I agree , fitness is the main problem with our Indian cricketers.

Sachin's luck is not with him at the moment thats why he missed many opportunities for making a test century. He continuously 5 times went to 90's but could not reach the milestone mark.

That's not at all about luck. It's about will power and control.
That was his sheer nervousness.

No daught Brian Lara is the best player in the word. But in my point of view the best batsmen in test cricket are
1. Mick Hussy
2. Mathiv Hadden
Both players are from Aus.

Sorry for spell

i think it will be michael hussey from australia, he had 80+ average when he started test cricket, still he has more average than tendulkar i think. he's called "mr. cricket" and that's because of his batting skills.
